In an effort to increase its engagement with the Philadelphia community, Brownstein Group (BG) created “215 Day” – an exciting new addition to its “BG Gives Back” program.
As part of “215 Day”, each year on February 15th all BG staff will participate in an organized volunteer activity. This year, Brownstein Group partnered with Parkway West High School in the Mill Creek section of West Philadelphia, one of the 20 Special Admission High Schools in the Philadelphia School District (also known as Magnet Schools). Parkway West is comprised of students who excel academically and creatively, and BG chose to work with this school specifically to show how an interest in how creativity can transform into a career.
On February 15, 2018 approximately 70 Brownstein Group employees joined more than 50 Parkway West high school students to engage in beautification updates to the school – including painting lockers and classrooms, as well as commissioning a special mural designed/produced by the Brownstein Group creative team. In addition to the much needed infrastructure touch-ups, BG employees were able to meet and interact with the students, answering questions about the advertising/marketing industry and learning about different experiences.
William Cohen, Dean of Students at Parkway West, had this to say of the event:
“I’d like to sincerely thank Brownstein Group for helping make our school a much better environment in which to learn. It is truly appreciated since we are usually left to our own devices without any extra assistance. Everyone who participated was very stoked and the teachers were very grateful.”
Other volunteer efforts will continue in various ways throughout the year, with a total of 1,125 hours of service (the equivalent of more than a full day from each BG employee) pledged for the remainder of 2018.
