PHILADELPHIA, PA – June 20, 2019 – The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) honored Brownstein Group and its long-standing client, Saint-Gobain North America, with a 2019 Bronze Anvil Award of Commendation in the “Executive Communications” category. PRSA, the leading professional communications organization in the country, hosts the annual awards program to bring attention to “the best of the best” in public relations tactics.
The executive communications campaign for Saint-Gobain was a strategic plan to raise the profile of its executives in North America. Brownstein Group and Saint-Gobain ideated and developed targeted messaging strategies for then-CEO Tom Kinisky and then-Senior Vice President of HR Valerie Gervais — key personalities of the international materials giant in the United States. The campaign sought to establish the executives as thought-leaders while placing their company at the nexus of critical global issues.
Brownstein Group and Saint-Gobain created a “Chief Geek Officer” persona to complement Kinisky’s reputation as a unique hybrid of both business executive and scientific innovator, while efforts surrounding Gervais’ platform were tied to her passionate, often-contrarian views of complex issues. Through personalized content strategies, Brownstein Group and Saint-Gobain amplified the executives’ distinctive messaging platforms via various distribution channels.
The project surpassed expectations and generated a significant spike in earned media placements, social media engagement, thought leadership opportunities, and speaking opportunities. As a result, Kinisky was recognized with the Most Admired CEO Award from Philadelphia Business Journal in 2018, and both Kinisky and Gervais spoke at various events for Bloomberg, Chief Executive Group, the National Association of Manufacturers, and the Delaware Valley Industrial Resource Center’s Manufacturing Summit.
“Our long-lasting partnership with Saint-Gobain has never failed to produce outstanding work due in large part to the collaboration between the agency and client teams,” said Laura Emanuel, Vice President and Director of Public Relations at Brownstein Group. “The Bronze Anvil honor is the result of a strong partnership agency working with a forward-looking client — a company that is open to deploying innovative and personalized strategies across digital channels.”
For over 45 years, the Bronze Anvil Awards have recognized the most talented executions of public relations tactics. Judging is performed by teams of PRSA members with expertise in the specific categories—out of hundreds of entries, no more than four submissions are honored per category every year.
The Bronze Anvil judges noted Brownstein Group and Saint-Gobain’s ability to tie-in public relations results to actual business results. “One of the few entries in this category to establish clear benchmarks and quantitative objectives to meet — congratulations on exceeding them,” stated one judge in the official evaluation. “The entry clearly conveys the business challenges these executives confronted,” said another, who praised the strategic approach to the program.
“This recognition is a testament to the relationships and trust our teams have cultivated over the years,” said Carmen Ferrigno, Vice President, Communications, Saint-Gobain North America. “Brownstein Group may be our agency partner on paper, but we see them as an extension of the Saint-Gobain North American communications team – and the results we’ve been able to achieve together are proof of that strong bond and collaborative spirit.”
